Velella was the name of my ancient (1950) GP14 (dinghy) Dinghy named after the Genus of marine Cnidarian - Velella - known as "by the wind Sailor".

I am an environmentalist, scientist and naturalist now retired from a career spent working for the UK Government as an Environmental Scientist. By training I am an aquatic biologist.
I have contributed a number of images, most of of which can be seen at - my dormant Wikimedia Common page
My first 5 years of editing were as Velela which is now a dormant account.
